As the sun sets, four figures appear
in the gathering shadows of a city centre. They carry the tools
of a modern ritual. Broomsticks, newspapers, a basket, a cushion.
Somewhere a gramaphone is playing. The music is calling. It is time
to return.
This outdoor performance sees the return of the Dah Teatar Angels
who appear in a specific city site which they feel is in need of
cleansing from it's history. Having arrived in the guise of warriors
and tramps, the Angels learn the site's biography, then measure
it and mark it out for cleaning. When the cleaning is done, the
Angel's dance and prepare for leaving.
"We played around the idea of cleansing from
History because we think that we cannot move forward unless we
become aware of the layers of history that have been happening
here, that were often turbulent, bloody and hard. In the performance
we were cleansing ourselves from the history but we were cleansing
history itself as well. In another sense we can say that we performed
a healing process." - Dijana Milosevic
